The voices of teachers are critical to the international response to the COVID-19 crisis. The Varkey Foundation’s “Global Teacher Prize Ambassadors” are joining the Global Coalition and will support its work in different countries, to bridge the gap between the classroom and the international community.

The Varkey Foundation is offering significant advocacy and communication support to the Global Coalition and is promoting the work of the coalition in the international media and in key national markets. More broadly, the Varkey Foundation is promoting the work of the Global Coalition through its Global Teacher Prize Ambassador network of world-class teachers, as well as its Atlantis Group of former education ministers and heads of government.

The Varkey Foundation is a globally focused education charity that works to ensure that every child has a good teacher.
Today, the foundation works across four key areas: building the status of teachers through our annual $1 million Global Teacher Prize; supporting school leaders; engaging with governments; and fostering innovation. To further our work in these areas, the Varkey Foundation has built global advocacy networks of teachers and former education ministers and government leaders.
Today, the foundation is leveraging these networks to support the Global Coalition. Our Global Teacher Prize Ambassadors, a network of world-class teachers, are signing up to join the Global Coalition and to ensure that the voices of teachers are heard in the international response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Our Atlantis Group, a network of former education ministers and government leaders, are supporting the Global Coalition’s work through their advocacy. The Varkey Foundation will also offer additional advocacy support to the Global Coalition.
