Global Teacher Campus
Mobilizing the Global Education Coalition to support teachers in the development of digital skills and pedagogical competencies for on-line, remote and hybrid education, and to address learning losses
The COVID-19 crisis revealed that most education systems were not prepared to support teachers to deliver remote learning or to use digital technologies for pedagogical purposes; to pursue hybrid and blended learning. The global pandemic has further accelerated the need to transform teaching and to better prepare teachers to respond to a variety of situations, social groups and learning needs.
The Global Teacher Campus aims to provide teachers with training opportunities on the pedagogical use of ICTs, to conduct remote teaching as well as to carry out formative assessment and curricular adaptations to better support at-risk students and those who have fallen behind due to schools closures and educational disruptions.
A number of Global Education Coalition partners have made their teacher development programs, courses and educational resources available -free of charge- to support initial and in-service teacher training. UNESCO will match teacher training institutions with partners from the Global Teacher Campus to offer training for trainers and learning opportunities for both pre-service teacher training and continuous professional development.
As the number of partners grows, UNESCO will continue to analyze the training offers from Global Teacher Campus partners and build a curated catalogue of the programmes; their content, learning objectives and intended outcomes. Likewise, it will continue to liaise with teacher education institutions and Member States to identify learning needs to be covered and to support the implementation of the programs.
