Commitment

Creative Commons (CC) makes it simple for everyone to share knowledge to address the world’s pressing challenges. We created and steward the “global standard” open license suite and public domain tools the world uses to share education, science, research, data and culture. By helping people and organizations share knowledge and creativity, we build a more equitable, accessible, and innovative world.

As the world’s leading organization providing the legal infrastructure for sharing open educational resources (OER), CC plays a critical role in addressing the COVID-19 education crisis and can help governments and other institutions strengthen learning systems for the future.

We offer training on open licensing for educators and librarians. Understanding the legal tools for creating and sharing OER is critical. We provide free consultations, and our official open licensing training materials for the CC Certificate are available to the global community at no cost under an open license.

The CC Global Network supports open education. We have a global network of educators, lawyers, advocates, and policy experts in 77 countries who can expand the reach of the Global Education Coalition.

We can help implement the UNESCO OER Recommendation. CC is a founding member of the UNESCO Dynamic OER Coalition.
