Education and COVID-19 Response
We can build and strengthen university teachers’ capacities to incorporate distance education into their daily teaching in order to facilitate students’ learning, adapting to the challenges of teaching and learning at a distance, thus providing interaction during periods of universities closure, and to bring learning processes and their outcomes closer to learners’ needs.
Concurrently, we address policy and strategies development in the Mediterranean to make digital education a key regional policy priority, and to maximise the benefits of open and distance learning to increase the access, quality and equity of Higher Education in the region, and fostering the social responsibility of universities and their shared values of freedom, democracy, social justice and solidarity.

UNIMED commits to contribute to the collective effort to find appropriate solutions in the current emergency context, with a particular focus on education in Higher Education in the Mediterranen region. UNIMED will support universities to bring together their expertise to build the missing links for education to continue remotely, and to ensure that responses today valorise local differences, and help to build more resilient societies and democratic access to education in the future. Concurrently, UNIMED will support capacity and policy development at regional level, to ensure an holistic approach in defining policies and strategies for teaching and learning in the region.
